President of Cyprus Participates in 'Alliance of Willing' Leaders' Teleconference – 'Ukraine is a Top Priority', Says Letymbiotis

The President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, participated in a teleconference of leaders of the 'Alliance of Willing' to mark four years since Russia's invasion of Ukraine. The Republic of Cyprus, having experienced illegal invasion and occupation, expresses its firm support for Ukraine's sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity, emphasizing that borders cannot be changed by force. Cyprus closely monitors the negotiations and the involvement of the United States, recognizing that developments in Ukraine directly affect Europe, which must play an active role. The government stresses the importance of European support for Ukraine. During the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the European Union, Ukraine is a top priority. The Presidency is working with EU institutions and member states to continue supporting Ukraine, including promoting the 20th package of sanctions, implementing the €90 billion loan, and maintaining momentum in Ukraine's EU accession negotiations. Government Spokesman Konstantinos Letymbiotis stated that the Republic of Cyprus fully understands the tragic consequences of the war in Ukraine and reaffirms its support for the country's territorial integrity.
