EU Council Extends Russia Sanctions for 6 Months

The EU Council decided to extend for another six months, until September 15, 2026, the restrictive measures targeting those responsible for undermining Ukraine's territorial integrity. The sanctions affect approximately 2,600 individuals and entities and include travel restrictions and asset freezes. The Council also decided not to renew sanctions on two individuals and to remove five deceased from the list. The EU reaffirms its support for Ukraine's independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity and is committed to maintaining and increasing pressure on Russia to stop the war and engage in peace negotiations.
