Shocking Historical Photos of the Executed in Kaisariani: First Two Identified

Historical photographs revealing the moment before the execution of 200 Greek resistance fighters in Kaisariani in May 1944 have been revealed. The identity of two of the executed, Basil Papadimas and Elias Rizos, has been identified through the photographs published at auction on eBay. Basil Papadimas was the older brother of the publisher and resistance fighter Dimitris Papadimas, while Elias Rizos was a worker in a pasta factory in Lamia. Both participated in the National Resistance and were executed by the Nazi occupiers. The authenticity of the photographs is under investigation, however the seller states that they come from the collection of a German lieutenant. The employee union of the Ministry of Culture is calling for the state to take immediate action to certify, purchase and promote the historical material. The KKE calls on the state to acquire the photographs and return them to where they belong, recognizing their historical value and symbolism for the National Resistance.
