Emotional Exhibition of Paintings by Children with Cancer at European Parliament

An exhibition of paintings by children from the Pediatric Oncology Unit of Makarios Hospital was held at the European Parliament, causing intense emotion. The exhibition, titled “Golden Ribbon,” was organized by MEP Lucas Fourlas in collaboration with the “Small Heroes” Foundation and the Pan-Cypriot Association of Parents and Friends of the Pediatric Oncology Unit, and is dedicated to the memory of Irida Violari. Lucas Fourlas emphasized that the children's artworks convey strong emotions of strength, hope, and resilience, and that for the first time, the voices of these children are heard at the heart of Europe. The exhibition presents brave faces, families who do not give up, and the work of doctors and nurses who fight for every child's breath. Former Health Commissioner Stella Kyriakidou expressed her admiration for the imagination and creativity of the children, emphasizing that their works bring light to the European Parliament. She underlined her commitment to continuing the fight against cancer and supporting families facing the disease. The teacher of the Pediatric Oncology Department, Eleni Anastasiou, delivered a greeting, while the exhibition will also take place in Cyprus. The organization of the exhibition is an important initiative to raise awareness about childhood cancer and highlight the strength and hope that emanate from these children.
