President of Cyprus Convenes National Security Council

The President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, convened an emergency meeting of the National Security Council to assess developments in the Middle East and coordinate relevant services. The convocation followed reports of missile launches towards Cyprus, which Government Spokesman Konstantinos Letymbiotis categorically denied, emphasizing that there was no threat to the country. However, British Defence Secretary John Healey had earlier reported that two missiles were launched towards Cyprus, but they did not target British military bases. Britain activated security protocols and remains on high alert. The Cypriot government is closely monitoring the situation.
