Cyprus Aims for Gas Export Deal with ENI to Europe via Egypt by 2027

The Cypriot government is aiming to reach an agreement with Italian energy company ENI for the export of Cypriot natural gas to Europe via Egypt by 2027. President Christodoulides met with ENI CEO Claudio Descalzi in Rome, where they reached a common direction. Both sides are expected to finalize consultations and sign an agreement on March 31st, during a natural gas forum in Egypt. If all goes well, the development plan will be submitted to the Council of Ministers. The agreement will allow for the sale of natural gas to Europe through Egypt, offering a new energy source for the continent.
