Strovolos Launches Clean-up and Infrastructure Maintenance Campaign in Refugee Settlements

The Strovolos Municipality has launched a clean-up and infrastructure maintenance campaign in the four refugee settlements (Kokkines, Aspres, Strovolos II, Strovolos III) that will last until June 2026. The campaign includes cleaning public spaces, removing bulky waste, pruning trees, street cleaning, signage maintenance, road repairs, and spraying to combat mosquitoes. Strovolos Mayor Stavros Stavrinides presented the campaign and emphasized the municipality's commitment to its citizens. He stated that the campaign resulted from meetings with residents and consideration of their concerns and needs, particularly in the refugee settlements that have deteriorated in recent years. The work has already begun in the Kokkines and Aspres settlements and will continue in Strovolos II and III in the coming months. The aim of the campaign is to improve the daily lives and safety of citizens. A concern raised during the campaign is the appropriation of small green spaces by residents. The Strovolos Municipality has taken responsibility for addressing the problems and upgrading the areas, which have been neglected for decades.
