Nine Skiers Dead in California Avalanche

Nine skiers have died in an avalanche that occurred in the Sierra Nevada mountain range in California. The avalanche occurred near Castle Peak on Tuesday, and rescue teams recovered the ninth and final missing skier. The tragedy occurred while a group of 15 people, consisting of skiers and professional mountain guides, were on a three-day trip in a remote area. Adverse weather conditions delayed rescue operations. Authorities had issued warnings about a wave of bad weather and heavy snowfall in the area.
