President Christodoulides Visits Bahrain to Strengthen Cyprus-Gulf Relations

President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, is undertaking an official visit to Bahrain with the aim of strengthening relations between Cyprus and the Gulf countries. The visit is considered strategically important due to the simultaneous Presidency of Cyprus in the Council of the EU and Bahrain in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), as well as Bahrain's participation in the United Nations Security Council. Cyprus seeks to upgrade the EU's relations with the Middle East and the Gulf, based on cooperation and mutual respect. Cyprus and Bahrain share common perceptions regarding the international arena and regional security. During the visit, agreements and memoranda of understanding will be signed, and a Joint Action Plan exists to deepen cooperation in various sectors. Cyprus has already established an embassy in Manama, further strengthening the bilateral relationship. Finally, Cyprus acts as a bridge between the EU and the Gulf countries, promoting dialogue and Euro-Arab cooperation.
