Eight-Day Detention for Suspects in Massive Drug Haul Case

Two men, aged 34 and 26, have been placed under an eight-day detention order following a court decision, as part of the investigation into the case of hundreds of kilograms of cocaine and cannabis found in Strovolos. The charges include illegal possession of narcotics with intent to supply, illegal possession of explosives and firearms, obstruction of money laundering combat, and conspiracy to commit a felony. The police are in the early stages of the investigation and will take statements from 22 people, including relatives, friends and neighbors of the suspects. Security camera footage and telephone and banking data are also being examined. According to the testimony of a narcotics police officer, the police had information about drug trafficking by the two men. During surveillance, the suspects were spotted transporting five boxes of firecrackers to the home of one of them. During the check, 11,480 firecrackers were found in the vehicle, while in the possession of the second suspect were found cannabis, cocaine, precision scales and money.
