Six-Year Sentence for 24-Year-Old Woman Smuggling Cocaine

A 24-year-old woman has been sentenced to six years in prison by the Larnaca Permanent Criminal Court for drug trafficking. The woman was arrested in October after being found to be importing 890 grams of cocaine into Cyprus, hidden in her body. The Police, through the Drug Enforcement Unit (YKAN) and in cooperation with the Customs Department, had received information about the woman and intercepted her at Larnaca Airport. During the inspection, 540 grams of cocaine were initially found in her possession, while medical examinations and X-rays revealed the presence of an additional 350 grams hidden in her body. The woman was hospitalized to expel the drugs and remained in custody until the trial. The court found her guilty of importing drugs and sentenced her to six years in prison.
