Pensioners' Issues Highlighted in Paphos

The General Secretary of EKYSY (Pan-Cyprian Confederation of Pensioners), Evtychios Papamichael, highlighted the serious problems faced by pensioners in Paphos during meetings held in Kato Paphos and Chloraka. He focused on low pensions, rising prices, and the high cost of medicines, emphasizing the difficulties faced by pensioners. Mr. Papamichael strongly criticized the government for the injustice suffered by widowed men regarding survivor pensions and called for its immediate end. During the meetings, greetings were addressed by local secretaries and candidates for parliament from AKEL – Left – New Forces. In Kato Paphos, Local Secretary Yannis Knodaris and in Chloraka, EKYSY Chloraka Secretary Andreas Christodoulou welcomed the participants. Provincial Secretary Eleni Evripidou Ch'Antoná provided information on the organizational matters of EKYSY. During the meetings, new local committees were elected for Kato Paphos and Chloraka, consisting of members who will represent the pensioners of the area and promote their interests.
