Cyprus: Number of Unpaid Checks Decreases in 2025

The number of unpaid checks in Cyprus reached 213 in 2025, according to preliminary data from the Central Information Repository (CIR). There is a decrease in both the number and the total value of unpaid checks compared to previous years, with their value reaching €630,249. This reduction is a result of improved financial behavior and increased supervision through the CIR. The issuers of unpaid checks are 39 legal entities, 28 natural persons, and 46 natural persons controlling legal entities. This trend continues the downward trajectory observed in recent years, with the number of unpaid checks gradually decreasing since 2022.
