Record Tourist Arrivals in Cyprus for January 2026

Cyprus recorded 121,625 tourist arrivals in January 2026, an 8.5% increase compared to January 2025 (112,100 arrivals). This figure represents a new historical record for the month of January. The main countries of origin for tourists were Poland (18.6%), Israel (18.1%), the United Kingdom (15.8%), Greece (9.6%), and Germany (6.2%). Regarding the purpose of travel, the majority of tourists (60.7%) visited Cyprus for holidays, while 22.8% came to visit friends or relatives, and 16.2% for business reasons. These figures show a slight increase in business tourism compared to January 2025. At the same time, there was a 15% increase in trips by residents of Cyprus abroad, with a total of 170,045 trips. Greece remains the most popular destination for Cypriot travelers, accounting for 27.6% of trips, followed by the United Kingdom (8.5%) and Poland (5.8%). These figures, published by the Statistical Service, indicate a continued upward trend in Cyprus tourism, as well as increased interest from Cypriots in traveling abroad. The increase in tourist arrivals and trips by residents of Cyprus are positive signs for the country's economy.
