Final Stage for Cigarette Butt Collection and Management System

The licensing of a collective system for managing waste from filtered tobacco products is in its final stages, after a two-year delay. The relevant authorities, tobacco producers-importers and Local Authorities, have completed their consultations. The system, branded REFILTERS, will place bins in public spaces to collect cigarette butts, aiming to prevent littering. Licensing is expected to be signed by the Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment. However, difficulties were encountered in reaching agreements with local authorities regarding collection points and the system's expansion timeline.
