President of Cyprus Visits Italy: Cyprus Issue and EU Presidency on Agenda

The President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, is making an official visit to Italy at the invitation of Italian President Sergio Mattarella. The agenda of the meetings includes bilateral relations between Cyprus and Italy, regional developments, the Cyprus issue, and the priorities of the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the EU. The visit is a return visit following the Italian President's visit to Cyprus in February 2024, the first visit by an Italian head of state to the Republic of Cyprus. President Christodoulides will meet with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, followed by statements to the media. He will also meet with President Mattarella for a meeting and working lunch, with the participation of Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos. During the visit, the opening of the archaeological exhibition “Cyprus and Italy, a Common Cultural Identity from the Beginning of History” will take place at the Museum of Castel Sant'Angelo. In addition, President Christodoulides will have a working meeting with ENI CEO Claudio Descalzi, which operates in the Cypriot EEZ.
