Violanta Owner Detained Following Factory Explosion

The owner of the “Violanta” biscuit factory, Konstantinos Tziortziotis, was remanded in custody after his testimony following the tragic explosion at the factory in Trikala. The investigation focuses on when he was informed about the propane leak that caused the death of five workers. Tziortziotis reportedly claimed he learned about the leak late and expressed his sorrow for the tragic incident, blaming his collaborators. He is charged with intentional explosion, manslaughter and causing bodily harm. The judicial investigation is also examining the possibility of involvement of other persons, especially regarding the installation of the propane system.
