Stefanos to President: SUMMIT NOW – The Situation is Extremely Difficult and We Must Act Collectively

The General Secretary of AKEL, Stefanos Stefanos, is calling on the President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, to convene an urgent meeting with political forces and agricultural organizations, following the European Commission's rejection of Cyprus' request for an exemption from the protocol concerning the mass culling of animals due to foot-and-mouth disease. Mr. Stefanos emphasizes that the developments create serious risks for the country's livestock and require collective and immediate action. He points out that mass culls will have devastating consequences for livestock farming, the economy, and society. He urges the President to take action and address the situation collectively and effectively.
