Cyta Budget Approved with 17 New Positions 'Crossed'

The House of Representatives unanimously approved the budget of Cyta. During the discussion, an amendment by DIPA was voted, which 'crosses' the credits for the filling of 17 new fixed-term positions within the organization (managers, department heads, operators, engineers and accountants). This amendment ensures that the Finance Committee will be informed before the hirings. DIPA MP Alekos Tryfonidis expressed concern about the potential privatization of the organization through the hiring of private law personnel in organic positions. He stressed that Cyta has contributed significantly to state revenues in recent years, generating €1.3 billion in dividends and taxes. AKEL MP Andreas Kavkalias referred to the possible inclusion of Cyta in the energy sector, noting that he will comment on the issue when the relevant bill is discussed in the competent committee. The approval of the budget marks the continuation of Cyta's operation and the addressing of the challenges it faces in the market.
