Soaring Prices for Clean Monday Feast - Which Products Saw a Decrease

Prices for Clean Monday feast products are experiencing significant fluctuations, according to the Price Observatory of the Consumer Protection Service. While some products, such as lagana, octopus, squid and celery, have seen price increases, others, such as tomatoes, cucumbers, beets, koulouri, shrimp and calamari, have decreased in price compared to last year. Specifically, the price of celery has increased by 52.84%, eggplant salad by 27.24%, octopus by 25.05% and squid by 7.20%. Conversely, tomatoes have decreased by 46.74%, koulouri by 27.42% and cucumbers by 21.70%. Shrimp and calamari have also seen significant price reductions. The Service's research was based on prices collected at 67 points of sale across Cyprus on February 19th. The price of halva remains stable, while there are large differences in the prices of the same products depending on the point of sale. For example, the price of halva ranges from €4.45 to €16.99 per kilo. The Consumer Protection Service emphasizes that the Price Observatories aim to inform consumers and do not constitute shopping advice. Each consumer should do their own market research based on their preferences and needs.
