Shocking Crash at Women's Cycling Race – Rider Fell Headfirst to Avoid Pile-Up

Italian cyclist Deborah Silvestri was rushed to the hospital after a terrifying crash during the Milan-Sanremo women's cycling race on Saturday. The accident occurred when Silvestri attempted to avoid a pile-up and fell headfirst from an embankment. The cyclist fell several meters and remained lying on the ground, while her team announced that she was conscious and being transported to the hospital for medical care. She will remain under observation for further examination. The race was won by Belgian Lotte Kopecky, but was overshadowed by Silvestri's crash. Kopecky expressed her hope for the health of all the athletes. Two of the race favorites, Kasia Niewiadoma-Finie and Kim Le Cour-Pinnaar, were also involved in the pile-up. Niewiadoma-Finie was unable to continue, while Le Cour-Pinnaar returned to the race, finishing in 99th place.
