Dust Levels High in the Atmosphere - Labour Inspection Department Recommendations

High dust concentrations were observed in the atmosphere today, Tuesday, according to measurements from the ground stations of the Air Quality Monitoring Network of the Labour Inspection Department. The highest values were recorded in Paphos (172.9 μg/m3) and Larnaca (163.4 μg/m3), while the lowest were in Agia Marina Xyliatou (70.9 μg/m3) and Zygi (80.5 μg/m3). The Department advises the public, especially vulnerable groups such as children, the elderly, and patients, to avoid going out in open spaces until the phenomenon subsides. It also calls on employers to take appropriate protective measures for their employees working outdoors, including the use of suitable personal protective equipment. According to the relevant legislation, the average daily dust concentration should not exceed 50 μg/m3.
