Electricity Authority of Cyprus (EAC) Employees to Stage Three-Hour Strike

Employees of the Electricity Authority of Cyprus (EAC) will stage a three-hour work stoppage on Wednesday, March 18th, from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM, protesting the serious problems facing the Authority and the electricity sector. Unions warn that if their positions are not heard by the government, they will escalate their measures. In their letter to the EAC Board of Directors, the unions state that the situation in the electricity sector is deteriorating, with negative consequences for consumers and the economy. This is due to the lack of strategic planning by the government and the procrastination of relevant bodies. The unions point out that despite a consensus of views with the Board of Directors, the problems remain unresolved, while government actions further complicate them. They accuse the government of wasting time on unrealistic proposals instead of focusing on ensuring adequate electricity supply, supply security, and consumer support.
