“Today Will Be the Most Intense Day of Attacks”: Threats Against Iran by US Secretary of Defense

US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth stated today that the US continues to intensify its campaign of attacks against Iran and declined to specify how long Washington intends the war to last, leaving the decision to President Trump. He announced that Tuesday will be “the most intense day of attacks” to date, with the largest number of fighter jets and bombers. Hegseth stated that Iran had launched the fewest number of missiles it was capable of launching. He expressed confidence that the US military is in a “very strong position,” but avoided making predictions about the duration of the conflict. The Chief of Staff of the Army, Air Force General Dan Kane, stated that the US military would consider options for escorting ships through the Strait of Hormuz. He believed that Iranian forces were not as strong as the US had calculated. In addition, Hegseth stated that the US is carrying out attacks against Iranian mine-laying vessels and has sunk or destroyed more than 50 warships in the first 10 days of the campaign.
