Blackout Warning for Summer as Energy Supply Concerns Rise

SEDEK PEΟ-ΑΗΚ is warning of a real risk of a blackout this summer, following a three-hour work stoppage. Its head, Dimitris Konstantinou, stressed that things will get worse in the coming summers and called on those in charge to give a clear answer about energy adequacy, especially given the impending shutdown of the Dekeleia units in 2029. In addition, the three Vasilikos units are approaching their operating limits. SEDEK PEΟ-ΑΗΚ accuses the state of long-standing failures and hindering EAC from participating in renewable energy projects to provide cheap energy. They leave open the possibility of continuing the mobilizations in more dynamic ways. They called on consumers to join forces with EAC staff, as what is at stake is the price of energy. SEDEK PEΟ-ΑΗΚ emphasizes the need to address the problem immediately to avoid unpleasant consequences.
