Russia: Former Deputy Defense Minister Accused of Corruption

Former Russian Deputy Defense Minister Ruslan Tsalikov is being prosecuted on charges of corruption, specifically embezzlement, money laundering, and bribery. The announcement was made by the Investigative Committee of Russia and is part of a series of prosecutions against high-ranking officials of the military establishment. Tsalikov served as First Deputy Minister of Defense from 2015 to 2024. Another Deputy Minister of Defense, Timur Ivanov, was sentenced to 13 years in prison in July 2024. Both served under Sergei Shoigu, who was removed from his position as Minister of Defense in 2024.
