Raouna at LIBE: Success will be judged by trust, not just closed files

The Deputy Minister for European Affairs, Marilena Raouna, stated during her briefing to the European Parliament's Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs (LIBE) that the success of the Cypriot Presidency will not be judged solely on the completion of files, but primarily on building trust between institutions, member states, and citizens. She emphasized the importance of the European Union as a union of values and the rule of law, especially in light of recent geopolitical challenges. Ms. Raouna also referred to the symbolism of her presence at the special session for the International Day of Remembrance of the Holocaust, reminding of the consequences of the failure of democracy and the rule of law. Finally, she stressed that the rule of law is fundamental not only for political functioning but also for the economic one, as the single market cannot operate without it, while warning about the increasing threats to European democracies.
