Larnaca Shooting: Two Prominent Businessmen Stand Trial – Charges and Bail Conditions

Two prominent businessmen, aged 47 and 43, are standing trial in Larnaca, accused of interfering with a judicial process and conspiracy. The charges stem from investigations into a shooting incident that occurred near the Larnaca Police Headquarters in January. They are alleged to have attempted to persuade the complainant in the case to change their testimony. Furthermore, the 47-year-old is accused of illegal possession of property, as significant amounts of cash (€103,915) and checks (€560,000) were found at his company's offices, suspected of being of illicit origin. Both businessmen deny the charges. According to the Police, the two men had meetings with the complainant at a hotel in Larnaca, where they allegedly offered him a job. The complainant had previously worked as a security guard at the 43-year-old's residence following a criminal act against him. The case is complicated by contradictory statements from the complainant regarding the source of funds offered to him for the protection of his property. He initially stated that the money came from a foreign national, but later claimed he did not know him. Both accused were released on bail, with the payment of guarantees and the surrender of their travel documents.
