President: Invitation to Peace Council is Particularly Important

The President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, described the invitation and Cyprus’s participation in the Peace Council for Gaza, as an observer, as particularly important. He stressed that Cyprus would highlight its plan for Gaza and expressed satisfaction with the US initiative to allow the presence of the Republic of Cyprus at the meeting. President Christodoulides stated that Cyprus has already presented a specific plan concerning the implementation of three aspects of the American President’s plan. He emphasized the importance of Cyprus’s position as a member state of the European Union and its contact with the leaders of the Mediterranean EU countries. Regarding his participation in the meeting, the President stated that he or the Minister of Foreign Affairs would attend, while he is in contact with other leaders in the region. He also noted that Italy has responded positively to participate in the meeting. President Christodoulides reiterated that the government’s decisions are taken with the aim of serving the interests of the Republic of Cyprus, emphasizing that its participation in the Peace Council is in line with this goal.
