President: Measures in Place to Safeguard Tourism

The President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, stated that the Government has already taken specific actions and continues to work closely with the private sector to ensure that any impacts on tourism are effectively addressed. The statement was made during a meeting with all stakeholders in the tourism sector. President Christodoulides stated that the meeting was held to coordinate actions and address the incorrect image being created, especially abroad. He emphasized the importance of cooperation between the Government and the private sector to address the challenges. He pointed out that 2023 and 2024 were record years for tourist arrivals and revenue, and recognized the importance of the tourism sector to the Cypriot economy. The meeting focused on evaluating the data, and the immediate, medium-term and long-term actions that will be taken. The Government is committed to taking all necessary measures to maintain the competitiveness of Cyprus's tourism product and protect the economy.
