President of Cyprus on Base Attack: "Cypriots Will Never Forget"

The President of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, stated that the recent drone attack on the British Bases was an isolated incident, but highlighted the close connection between the security of Cyprus and the European Union. He emphasized the immediate response of countries such as Greece, France, Italy, Spain, and the Netherlands to Cyprus's request for strengthening defense and security. President Christodoulides mentioned that Cyprus essentially tested Article 42 of the Treaty on the European Union, which provides for mutual solidarity in the event of an attack on a member state. He stressed that the attack on Cyprus is an attack on Europe as a whole. He also pointed out that Cyprus is a pillar of stability and security in the Eastern Mediterranean, acting as a bridge of cooperation. He emphasized that life in Cyprus continues normally, with tourism remaining active. President Christodoulides stated that this event will remain etched in the memory of Cypriots and will be recorded in history.
