First Address by Mojtaba Khamenei: “The Enemy Wants Us Divided”

Mojtaba Khamenei, the new supreme leader of Iran, gave his first address after his election, warning that the Strait of Hormuz will remain closed as a “means of pressure” and that American bases in the region will be attacked if they do not close. He stressed that the war against Iran should not affect relations with its neighbors and pledged revenge for the blood that has been shed. Khamenei accused the enemy of seeking to divide the region and control its countries. He expressed Iran's desire to maintain good relations with neighboring countries, despite attacks from American bases located in them. An image posted on Telegram shows a list of Iran's supreme leaders, including Mojtaba Khamenei himself, his father Ali Khamenei, and Ruhollah Khomeini, accompanied by the message “In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.” Mojtaba Khamenei, known for his hardline character, has been linked to the violent suppression of protesters in Iran and has cultivated close ties with the IRGC.
