“President” of Pseudo-Parliament: “Turkish Soldiers Will Stay Forever”

The “president” of the pseudo-parliament of the Turkish-occupied part of Cyprus, Ziya Özgürler, stated that Turkish soldiers will remain in Cyprus forever, as they are a guarantee for the Turkish Cypriot people. During a dinner in Ankara, he emphasized the “unbreakable ties” between Turkey and the pseudo-state, highlighting the common history and identity of the two peoples. Özgürler referred to statements by Turkish President Erdoğan, according to which Turkey will continue to support Turkish Cypriots, and reiterated that the presence of the Turkish army on the island is non-negotiable. This statement contrasts with the calls of the Republic of Cyprus for the withdrawal of Turkish troops.
