Fytiris – AAEC Discuss Prison Detox Program

The launch of a detoxification program within the Prisons was at the center of the meeting held on Tuesday between the Minister of Justice and Public Order, Kostas Fytiris, and the Cyprus Anti-Narcotics Authority. The meeting also focused on prevention, treatment, and social reintegration initiatives, aiming for more substantial and effective interventions. Particular emphasis was given to the launch of a detoxification program within the Prisons, supporting individuals being released from prison, and strengthening cooperation for early intervention with young users and prevention in schools. The meeting is part of the efforts of the Ministry of Justice and the AAEC to address the problem of addiction in Cyprus and provide support to individuals facing this problem. Cooperation between the two bodies is considered crucial for the success of these efforts. The launch of the detoxification program in Prisons is expected to contribute to improving the living conditions of prisoners and reducing crime associated with addiction.
