Cyprus Leads EU with Highest Annual GDP Growth in Q4 2025

Cyprus recorded the highest annual GDP growth among EU member states in the fourth quarter of 2025, with a rate of 4.5%. The GDP also increased by 1.4% on a quarterly basis. In contrast, growth in the Eurozone and the EU was much more restrained, at 0.3% and 0.3% respectively on a quarterly basis, and 1.3% and 1.5% annually. For the entire year of 2025, the estimated growth is 1.5% for the Eurozone and 1.6% for the EU. Regarding employment, a slight increase was observed in both the Eurozone and the EU during the fourth quarter of 2025, with a 0.2% increase on a quarterly basis and 0.6% and 0.7% annually, respectively. For the whole year, an increase of 0.7% is estimated for the Eurozone and 0.5% for the EU. These figures demonstrate that Cyprus significantly outperformed the EU and Eurozone averages in terms of economic growth. The Cypriot economy shows resilience and an upward trajectory, despite the restrained performance in other European countries. This success is attributed to the responsible economic policy being followed, which allows for substantial investments in areas such as health, education and social welfare, according to statements by President Christodoulides.
