Data Protection Authority Temporarily Suspends 'Agora' App

The Data Protection Authority has requested a temporary suspension of the 'Agora' application, created by MEP Fidias Panagiotou. This decision was made due to concerns regarding the protection of personal data of users of the platform, which is used to submit candidacies for parliamentary elections with the Direct Democracy party. The Authority is conducting an assessment of the Data Protection Impact Assessment (DPIA) and requires full compliance with European and national legal frameworks. Data Protection Commissioner Maria Christofidou emphasized that data protection is a legal obligation, not merely an option. The Authority awaits confirmation of the temporary suspension of the application's operation and will take further action depending on the response.
