Trying to Save What Can Be Saved in Aradippou: Emergency Measures Announced by the Municipality – Partou's Remarks on the State's Response

Following the confirmation of foot-and-mouth disease cases in two livestock units in Aradippou, the Municipality has taken emergency measures to protect the area, which has one of the largest livestock populations in Cyprus. The measures include the creation of new disinfection tanks, supplying state services with water, and restricting access to livestock areas. The mayor, Christodoulos Partou, expressed complaints about the state's delayed response and lack of information, while calling on the state to provide financial and psychological support to farmers. The Municipality is ready to coordinate with the Municipality of Athienou to close common rural roads and hopes to contain the spread of the disease.
