Preventive actions in Aradippou to prevent the spread of foot-and-mouth disease

Emergency measures are being taken in Aradippou to prevent the spread of foot-and-mouth disease, as livestock farmers express concern about the lack of adequate measures from the state. The Municipality of Aradippou, in cooperation with livestock farmers, is proceeding with spraying and road closures to limit access to livestock units. The Mayor of Aradippou, Christodoulos Partis, stated that the actions will be extended to Kellia and Troulloi. Mr. Partis expressed the need for an immediate response from the Ministry of Agriculture and the competent Services, emphasizing that the protection of livestock farmers and the local economy is of utmost importance. The Municipality is taking these actions due to the lack of immediate response from the state. The spraying and road closures aim to prevent the spread of the virus, which has already been detected in livestock units in Oroklini and Livadia. Aradippou is an important center for cow's milk production and the protection of the livestock zone is vital. Mr. Partis called on livestock farmers to remain calm and cooperate with the authorities to implement preventive measures. He stressed that prompt response and cooperation are essential to prevent a possible epidemic and protect the economy of Cyprus.
