Papadoures Expresses Concern over Aykut Case: "Steal, Build, Sell"

The President of the Citizens' Movement – Cooperation of Ecologists, Stavros Papadouris, expressed concern regarding the Simon Aykut case and the seizure of Greek Cypriot properties in the occupied territories. During a closed session of the Parliamentary Refugee Committee, Mr. Papadouris emphasized that the Ecologists' Movement had played a significant role in revealing the details of the case, leading to arrests and the imposition of penalties. However, he expressed concern about Israel's request to transfer Aykut to serve the remainder of his sentence there, as well as reports of continued construction work on properties linked to Aykut. Mr. Papadouris fears that the case may result in a “slap on the wrist” sentence and create a negative precedent for other similar cases, jeopardizing efforts to restore the rights of refugees.
