Putin Orders Protection of Critical Infrastructure After Ukrainian Attacks

Putin discussed measures to protect critical infrastructure with members of the Russian Security Council, following continued Ukrainian attacks, including one on a military factory in Bryansk. Ukraine has used British Storm Shadow missiles to hit the semiconductor factory in Bryansk, causing surprise among Russian analysts regarding the lack of protection of the site. Recent attacks also include strikes on a chemical plant and an oil pumping station managed by Gazprom, resulting in disruptions to fertilizer production and natural gas exports. The Russian Ministry of Defense announced that it had prevented a Ukrainian attack on the pumping station. In response to the increasing attacks, Russia is slowing down or shutting off mobile internet in Moscow and other major cities, citing security reasons. The disruptions have caused problems with access to essential services such as maps and taxi apps. Putin asked the responsible ministers to propose measures to protect infrastructure, while the Security Council meeting was not broadcast publicly.
