Civil Defence: Intention for New SMS Test in the Coming Days

The Commander of Civil Defence, Maria Papa, announced that the state is proceeding with the implementation of a mass population information system in times of crisis, aiming for timely and accurate information to citizens. The system is expected to be completed within June. Despite assessing a good level of readiness, Ms. Papa acknowledged the existence of weaknesses and the need for continuous improvement and cooperation with various political parties. A test SMS sending has already been carried out on the initiative of the Deputy Ministry of Innovation and in cooperation with mobile providers, which however presented some weaknesses. The Deputy Ministry is analyzing the results of the test to identify and correct the problems. Ms. Papa assured that the test will be repeated in the coming days. The Commander emphasized the importance of informing citizens, as knowledge of the measures to be taken increases resilience and the ability to cope with risks. Civil Defence is working on preparedness and prevention, without causing panic among the population. The government seeks to ensure that the system is effective and reliable, so that it can respond to any eventuality. Cooperation with political parties and state support are considered essential for strengthening Civil Defence and protecting citizens.
