Siege in Kobani – Kurdish Gathering in Limassol

The Kurdish community in Cyprus is holding a protest rally in Limassol today at 6:30 PM in front of the District Office, due to the attacks by jihadists in Kobani, Syria. Despite the ceasefire, groups linked to the Syrian regime and supported by Turkey are besieging the area, threatening civilians. Kurdish volunteers are arriving in Kobani to reinforce the defense, while the situation is deteriorating. Kurds are calling on the Republic of Cyprus, as EU Presidency, to condemn the attacks and support the Kurdish people. They also urge the media and society to show solidarity and raise awareness about the events in Rojava.
