POED Criticizes Ministry of Education for Lack of Consultation on Teacher Evaluation Meetings

The POED (Primary Teachers' Union of Cyprus) has strongly criticized the Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth (MOESY) for proceeding with information and training meetings regarding the new legislation on teacher evaluation without proper consultation. The union accuses the MOESY of failing to engage in necessary dialogue and points out that the number of meetings and participants is insufficient to meet the needs of the eight thousand teachers concerned. POED believes that this initiative exacerbates the already difficult situation in public schools due to understaffing. They are requesting an immediate meeting with the Ministry to discuss the issue and find a better solution for the planning and management of the training. Until a response is received from the MOESY, POED is calling on its members to refrain from participating in the meetings.
