March Rainfall Approaching Double the Normal

Rainfall in March is on track to significantly exceed normal levels, reaching 176% of the average. According to preliminary data from the Meteorological Department, from March 1st to 8:00 AM on March 26th, the average total rainfall amounted to 108.8 millimeters, while the normal rainfall for the entire month is 61.9 millimeters. The areas that received the highest amount of rainfall are Stavros tis Psokas (236 millimeters, 202% of normal), Platanias (193 millimeters, 172%), Pano Panagia (192.6 millimeters, 189%), Saitta (175.1 millimeters, 210%) and Prodromos (166.7 millimeters, 138%). In the last 24 hours, the largest amounts of rain were recorded in Kellaki (36 millimeters), Saitta (28.9 millimeters) and Pano Panagia (27.5 millimeters). This data indicates a significant exceedance of the expected rainfall for the month of March. This situation requires preparedness from relevant authorities and citizens, as increased rainfall can cause flooding and other problems. The Meteorological Department is expected to continue monitoring weather developments and informing the public.
