Water Levels Rise in Paphos Dams Following Rainfall

Recent rainfall in the Paphos district is proving particularly beneficial for water reserves, according to the President of the Paphos Water Development Corporation (EOA), Charalambos Pittokopitis. Satisfactory inflow to the dams is being recorded, with Asprokremmos Dam showing the largest increase, reaching over 18% capacity and an inflow of approximately 10 million cubic meters. Inflow is also observed in the Kannaviou and Evretou dams. Mr. Pittokopitis expresses cautious optimism, believing that with proper management, water cuts will be avoided during the summer period. The rainfall is expected to boost the primary sector and farmers. Despite the improvement, water reserves remain at low levels and the situation remains difficult. The EOA Paphos calls on citizens and authorities to contribute to reducing overconsumption and water losses, emphasizing the need for frugality and prudence in water use. So far, no damage has been reported from the recent rainfall. The situation, although improved, requires continued vigilance and responsible management of water resources.
