Agora Platform: What Will Happen to the Application After the Refusal to Download It

The Personal Data Protection Authority will proceed with measures, potentially including an administrative fine, after Pheidi Panayiotou's refusal to suspend the operation of the Agora platform. The Commissioner, Maria Christofidou, left open the possibility of the application being downloaded without the creator's consent. The Authority had requested the suspension of operation until the consultation was completed and an impact assessment was carried out, as the platform is linked to the processing of sensitive data, such as political beliefs. Pheidi Panayiotou argues that the application complies with European legislation and has been approved by the European Parliament, but refuses to suspend it. The application will be used for the elections of the Direct Democracy of Cyprus, which are scheduled for March 5-7.
