Pittokopitis: No water cuts in Paphos

The President of the Paphos Water Board (EOA), Charalambos Pittokopitis, stated that there will be no water cuts in Paphos despite the reduced water production from desalination plants and the Asprokremmos refinery, due to the severe weather conditions. The decrease in production is due to the increased concentration of sediments in the desalination plants and the transfer of deteriorated materials to the refinery from recent rainfall. To cover the losses, the EOA Paphos reactivated the wells in the Xeros River, ensuring the smooth water supply to the affected areas, from Kouklia to Peyeia. According to the latest update, the sea conditions have improved and the desalination plants are expected to return to normal production rates. Mr. Pittokopitis appealed to consumers to limit water usage and avoid waste and overconsumption, reminding them that water is a precious resource. The rational use of water remains essential to address the challenges posed by weather conditions. Despite the difficulties, the EOA Paphos assures that all necessary measures are being taken to ensure the continuous water supply to the city and surrounding areas.
