Pistol and Explosives Found Hidden in the Mountains of Limassol

Police officers discovered a pistol and explosives hidden in an open area between the communities of Alassa and Lania in the province of Limassol. The discovery was made following information and during a patrol by the Limassol OPE. The pistol was without a magazine, while the explosives consisted of five pieces with a total weight of 670 grams. A bomb disposal expert from the Limassol Police Directorate and members of the Limassol TAE went to the scene to carry out the necessary examinations. The recovered materials were taken for specialized analysis, while the Limassol TAE has taken over the investigation of the case. The Police have not yet released more information regarding the origin of the weapons and explosives, nor who might be the owner. The investigation is ongoing with the aim of identifying and arresting those responsible. This discovery causes concern to local authorities and the Police, as it indicates the existence of illegal activities in the area. The Police have intensified patrols and checks in the province of Limassol to prevent similar incidents in the future.
