Piki on Controversial Video: Does Not Believe it Affects Cyprus's Image Abroad

The Deputy Minister to the President, Irene Piki, dismissed any suggestion of illegal activity in connection with the video that circulated featuring conversations between government members. Ms. Piki emphasized that the Government operates in a institutional and transparent manner in attracting investment and does not believe the video affects Cyprus's image abroad. She stressed that the honor and reputation of the country are of utmost importance. Deputy Minister of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy, Nikodimos Damianos, agreed that the video should not affect investment attraction efforts, as these are carried out with absolute transparency. He pointed out that contacts with major firms have already been made and will not be affected by the incident. Ms. Piki clarified that the Government categorically rejects any suggestion of illegal or irregular activity involving any member. She did not wish to comment further on the issue of access to the Presidential Palace, but reiterated the Government's commitment to transparency and legality.
