Five-Day Detention for Suspect in Larcana Robbery Case

The Larnaca District Court has ordered a five-day detention for a 31-year-old suspect in connection with a robbery that took place in Larnaca in 2024. This is the sixth arrest in the case. Five individuals, aged 43, 42, 41, 29, and 27, have already been referred to trial before the Larnaca Permanent Criminal Court, with four being sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of Dimitris Andronikou. The robbery was reported on February 19, 2024, by the 58-year-old wife of the businessman, who experienced moments of terror along with her two domestic helpers. Four masked individuals broke into their home, immobilized them with the threat of garden shears, and stole jewelry and money worth €188,000 from the safe. Following an investigation and analysis of security camera footage, police determined that there were five perpetrators who used a stolen vehicle that was found abandoned. One of the stolen watches was later found in a jewelry store in Lebanon, where it had been sold through contacts from Cyprus. Two individuals, a 41-year-old from Syria and a 30-year-old, were arrested for involvement in the case. The 41-year-old, who had already been arrested for the Andronikou murder, also implicated the other three convicted individuals. A 43-year-old from Iraq, also arrested, objected to his detention, with the court reserving its decision. A separate case has been filed against the 30-year-old for selling the rings.
